Applicant Screening
If an employer intends to purchase any information about a job candidate
from an outside source as part of their employee selection protocol:
The process then becomes regulated by the government in
order to be fair to the candidate and protect their privacy
while at the same time satisfying the company's needs.
There is mandatory paperwork that must be completed for
each candidate.
With the initial paperwork in place, employee selection should be approached as
a process that answers questions for the employer in two major areas.
When you are trying to choose the right person for your job:
Does the person really have the right training ?
Does the person really have the experience claimed ?
What are the candidates attitudes and motivations ?
When you are trying to make sure that you do not hire
a problem:
Are all parts of the person's record as represented ?
Does the person have a hidden agenda ?
Is the person on any illegal drugs or illegally using
any controlled substances ?
A good pre-employment screening interview tool should be used to enhance
a good pre-employment interview. Then, it should be followed by a good
background check using freshly retrieved data. Those steps will answer
the above questions.
